Stephen (Sami) B. Mashney

was born on the 4th of July in the then sleepy Ramallah, Occupied Palestine. I was given the name “Sami” which in Arabic means “high” in stature.

From childhood, I have always been a fighter who had zero tolerance to bullies or snobs. I never shied away from confronting bullies in their face and consider it a duty and a pleasure to beat them in their own silly game.

I fought my way in life from elementary school until today—and I am still fighting. I simply cannot sit idle and pretend to be a three-brass-monkey when I see anyone abusing or harassing anyone, human or not. I take it personally and emotionally upon myself to fight for the underdog and win.

Having said all that, I always had compassion for living things as exemplified by my serial adoptions of countless stray cats and dogs in my neighborhood, to the protestations of my late father.

I received my Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Cairo University, Egypt, and worked as a pharmacist in Ramallah. I then chose making America to be my new home. I lived with my family in Jacksonville, FL where I promptly accredited my Egyptian pharmacy education and received my second Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL.

I was licensed and worked as a pharmacist in Florida. Soon, I moved to San Rafael, Marin County, CA, and became licensed to practice pharmacy in California.

It did not take me too long to realize that the mundane count-and-pour pharmacy environment was insufficiently challenging to me. So, while working as a full-time graveyard shift pharmacist, I enrolled in a four-year nighttime law school program at San Francisco Law School, San Francisco, CA.

I received my Jurisprudence Doctorate (J.D. or law) degree from San Francisco Law School, passed the California Bar examination on my first attempt and was admitted to practice law in California.

In 1994, I made Orange County and Anaheim my permanent home and place of business. I founded Mashney Law Offices in Anaheim without working for any attorney employer.

Today, Mashney Law Offices has grown and continues to grow from a one person operation to a reputable, multi-faceted, six-attorneys law firm managing cases in various California and Federal courts, encompassing medical malpractice, personal injury, automobile accidents, other serious accidents, wrongful death, drowning, sexual harassment, dog bites, bedbugs, products' liability, workers' compensation, civil litigation, criminal defense, DUI and DMV, bankruptcy, loan modification, real estate, immigration, naturalization, family law, dissolution, custody, support, estate planning, taxation, wills and trusts.

In addition to the aforementioned, I have been or is now active in professional, civic, and charitable organizations including:

The Orange County Bar Association (OCBA)
Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA)
Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA)
Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC)
Network of Arab American Professionals of Orange County (NAAP-OC), Founder
Anaheim Family YMCA, Board member
Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, former board member
Publisher of The Independent Monitor newspaper www.TIMonitor.com

I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, daughter and son, photography, publishing, writing, public speaking, community organizing, mentoring, tutoring, motivating others, and charitable and educational work.
