Personal Injury

(Click also on the FAQ section)

Automobile accidents affect 1% of the U.S. population annually. Over three million people are injured each year in car accidents, resulting in billions of dollars in damages.

If you have been injured in a car accident, you need experienced car accident lawyers. You may be entitled to recover damages for your lost wages, property damage, medical bills and pain and suffering.

At Mashney Law Offices, our car accident lawyers have handled hundreds of car accident claims. We understand the difficulties of such claims and know how to deal with insurance companies to negotiate the best result for you.

Below are some general statistics on car accidents in the United States from the National Safety Counsel (NSA):

  • Over 4,000,000 people visit the emergency department every year due to a car accident.
  • 42,000 deaths are reported every year from car accidents.
  • Nearly 10% of car accident victims become disabled.
  • 2 out of every 5 deaths in car accidents are alcohol related.

What to do I do if I have been involved in a car accident?

Every week, we are contacted by many people who want to know what to do after a car, motorcycle or truck accident. Here are seven golden rules to follow:

At the accident scene, the fist seven rules are:

  1. Remain calm
  2. Stop in a safe place
  3. Make sure no one is hurt
  4. Call 911 and ask for the police, and an ambulance if necessary
  5. Get the other driver's name, address, and phone number. Record his/her vehicle registration number. If you believe the other driver is intoxicated, tell the police officer
  6. Get the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the witnesses
  7. Ask the police officer for the police report number and where and when a copy will be available

Afterwards:

  1. Contact the car accident lawyers at Mashney Law Offices. We want to help. Simply fill in the consultation form by clicking the link below or call us toll free at (800) 555-6655. We do not get paid, unless and after you get paid
  2. Contact your insurer
  3. Get medical treatment promptly and continue to get all the medical treatment you need for as long as you need it
  4. Do not speak to the insurance company for the other driver. Instead, tell the insurance company representative to call your lawyer
  5. Have someone take photos of the cars and any skid marks on the road (skid marks start to fade within days)
  6. Keep track of all the places you have gotten medical treatment, the physical ailments that you have and how the injuries affect your day-to-day life

We want you to be safe. Be a responsible, defensive driver. Approach intersections with caution, follow other cars with plenty of room, use your mirrors, and slow your speed according to the road conditions.

Additionally, ensure that your vehicle is mechanically sound and properly insured. And of course, never drink and drive.
